The name Frogtown dates back to the 1860’s and 1870’s. Father Alexis Hoffman states that the area was called “Froschberg” or Frogtown because of its swamps. Another story claims that Archbishop John Ireland, hearing a chorus of frogs here, referred to the area as “Froschberg” or Frog City.
